Project Overview
John acted as site commercial lead on an approximately £2m highways scheme on the A57, delivered under an NEC3 Option A priced contract.
Challenges
The role required day-to-day commercial and contractual management of the works, with particular focus on protecting the contractor’s entitlement and maintaining control of the developing commercial position.
Contribution
John led the commercial management of the project, applying core site-commercial disciplines including cost control, change management, payment, forecasting and contractual administration. A particular focus was ensuring that the contractor’s commercial and contractual entitlement was identified and properly managed during delivery.
Results
Active management of change, entitlement and the developing commercial position helped materially improve the project’s forecast return compared with the original tender position. The work gave the delivery team a clearer basis for managing compensation events, payment and commercial risk through the remaining works.
